Budget by Pay Period - For High School and College Students
Managing money is an essential skill for any successful adult.
Unfortunately it's rarely taught and often assumed that those who earn a paycheck can also manage that paycheck wisely.
I've helped adults build budgets for 7 years - this does not happen automatically.
If you want to set your high school or college student up for long term financial success, give them a tool to manage their money.Â
The best time to learn how to manage money is when the impact of any failures or mistakes is small - like it is for a student compared to a 30 year old working professional!
I took the original Debt Free Mom pay period budget template and adjusted it for students by removing expenses or categories that would most likely not apply to them, adding a space to record cashless payment reimbursements and payments (like venmo or paypal), and extended the template to 8 pay periods on one sheet.
What's Included
- a Google sheets budget template by pay period with 8 blank pay periods per sheet on 6 sheets (pay periods can be as long as they want them to be!)
- A video for parents about how to approach budgeting with your teen including how to help them establish their own pay schedule if they are working odd jobs with irregular pay amounts and dates.
- A video for students about what budgeting is and is not as well as what the goal of making a budget should be.
